Pilar C. McAdam, CRM, is a Certified Records Manager with more than 35 years of experience working with business support and technology processes, including records and information governance, in corporate, public sector, non-profit, and legal environments. Throughout her career Pilar has concentrated on how organizations create, use, and maintain information, focusing on improving processes and systems to make data more useful and accessible to those who need it.
At Kaizen, Pilar has worked with clients in the public and private sectors, including municipalities, utilities, educational institutions, nonprofits, aerospace, transit agencies, insurance, real estate management, and pharmaceutical organizations. Prior to joining Kaizen InfoSource, Pilar served as Manager of Business Intake & Records at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton, LLP, an AmLaw 100 law firm with 14 offices in the US and Asia. At Sheppard Mullin she coordinated the transition of records and conflicts software applications, administered deployment and maintenance of a business intake workflow system, and advocated for the centralization of client information within a single system. She was the Team Lead for the Records & Information Management Program at The Boeing Company, where she was responsible for records policies and procedures, the records retention schedule, including its expansion to incorporate international offices, corporate-wide RIM training, and key elements of the corporate compliance program. As the Records Manager at Hughes Electronics, she coordinated internal/external audits, vendor contracts, and the records components of two major corporate divestitures as well as a merger with Boeing. Before moving into records management, Pilar spent more than fifteen years in asset management, working with commercial and US Government contracts and audits, as well as capital appropriations, maintenance & repair contracts, and cost pool administration.
Pilar’s experience includes policy and procedure development, retention scheduling, business process analysis, analysis of contract terms and conditions, implementation of Information governance through the use of technology, and coordination of training and compliance programs.
Pilar has been an active member of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) International since 1999, serving multiple terms as president of the Greater Los Angeles chapter, four years as a trustee on the board of the ARMA International Educational Foundation, and four years as a region coordinator for the Pacific region.
